Frequently Asked Questions
Our courses are designed to be most effective for adults and teenagers aged 14 and above. Younger students with sufficient maturity and attention span will also be gladly accepted.
What is the duration and frequency of the lessons?
We usually recommend a regular weekly 1h lesson slot, which gives you just the right amount of time to practice between lessons. For busy learners unable to commit to a fixed weekly slot, lessons can be booked ad-hoc subject to teacher’s availability, within a span of 6 months. For fast-paced learning during school holidays or leave periods, crash courses can also be arranged in any combination of hours/sessions (e.g. 5h+5h or 3h+3h+4h) to fulfill the total number of hours for the course.
Do I need to own a piano/keyboard in order to learn?
Yes, you will need your own piano/keyboard for lessons as well as for practice. For the Basic Course, any simple keyboard ($200+) with touch response would suffice, and for the Intermediate Course onwards, you should have at least a model with weighted keys such as the Yamaha P-series ($800+). Speak to your teacher for recommendations!
For students who wish to learn at a more leisurely pace, course extensions are available in sets of 5 lessons at the same hourly rate.
What is the payment schedule and modes?
For 10-lesson courses, 60% of the course fees is payable upon successful registration, and the balance on the 5th lesson. For 5-lesson courses, 100% of the course fees is payable upon successful registration. Payment can be made by PayNow or bank transfer.
Where are your lessons held?
Our lessons are currently conducted at students’ houses only. Do check back for more alternatives in future!
Do you do graded classical piano courses?
We do not offer graded classical piano courses, but we would be happy to refer you to trusted teachers who do. Students who have completed our Intermediate Course should find it easy to enter at least Grade 2 of the classical system with bodies such as ABRSM or Trinity.

Beginner’s Piano Course
Learn to play the piano in 10 easy lessons! This course is designed to equip absolute beginners with firm foundations in both practical piano skills and essential music theory knowledge. Get acquainted with key concepts like notes, keys, scales, melody, chords, rhythmic patterns and dynamics as we cover at least two songs of your choice.
Fees: $450 (Individual), $350 (Group)

Intermediate Piano Course
So you know your ABC’s and Do-Re-Mi’s, what’s next? Take your playing to the next level as we master concepts like harmonies, chord extensions, fill-ins, transitions and song structure. Two songs of your choice will be covered during the course, and upon completion you should be well able to confidently approach any new song on your own!
Fees: $480 (Individual), $380 (Group)

Classical Piano Conversion Course
Many have been through the classical piano system, even right up to Grade 8 or Diploma, and are still unable to play anything without a score provided! If that is you, this course aims to build upon your hard-earned foundations to unlock a newfound freedom to play music that is truly and uniquely yours, not just replicating what is written on paper.
Fees: $240 (Individual), $190 (Group)

Commusicate! Signature Course
The heartbeat of Commusication Academy, this course nurtures passionate musicians trained and skilled to make music come to life, using their instruments to communicate deep messages, heartfelt emotions, and even very personal convictions. Choose a song or two which you intimately identify with, and line by line, your trainer will work with you to uncover layers upon layers of treasure which can be thoughtfully commusicated in your playing. Once you master the art of commusication, you will literally bring people to tears or laughter, heal hearts, change minds, transform lives and perhaps even move mountains with your music.
Suitable for students who have completed our Intermediate Course or have the equivalent knowledge and skills.
